If you’ve ever found yourself staring at a screen specification sheet, tape measure in hand, trying to figure out if a 65-inch TV will actually fit between your living room bookshelf speakers, you’re not alone. We’ve been there too—more times than we’d like to admit.
Buying a display should be exciting, whether you're building a home theater, upgrading your office desk, or setting up a multi-monitor rig for gaming or editing. But somewhere along the line, display specs got overly complicated. Manufacturers push diagonal measurements in inches, aspect ratios in ratios like 16:9, 21:9, or 32:9, and pixel dimensions across HD, 4K, and 8K formats. Trying to convert those marketing numbers into real-world physical dimensions usually meant pulling out high school geometry or settling for rough guesses.
That exact frustration is why ScreenSizeCalc was born.
Our Story: Built out of Real Need
ScreenSizeCalc started with a simple weekend project. Back in 2024, our founder was attempting to set up a dual-monitor work desk. One monitor was a standard 27-inch 16:9 display, while the second was an ultrawide 34-inch 21:9 panel. On paper, 34 inches sounds massive compared to 27 inches, but diagonal numbers don't tell you the whole truth. When placed side by side, the vertical physical height of the ultrawide panel turned out to be almost identical to the 27-inch screen.
Realizing how misleading diagonal measurements can be, we looked for an online calculator to quickly compare screen dimensions side-by-side. What we found across the web were mostly outdated websites filled with broken layouts, intrusive full-screen popups, or overly academic tools that were slow and painful to use on mobile devices.
We knew there had to be a better way. We decided to create a clean, modern, blazingly fast platform dedicated strictly to display metrics—free of clutter, forced registrations, or paywalls.
